Modem router

A modem is a device that connects a computer or other devices to the internet. It does this by converting the digital data used by computers into analog signals that can be transmitted over the telephone or cable lines and vice versa. A router is a device that connects multiple devices on a LAN (local area network) to the internet or WAN (wide area network). It does this by forwarding data packets between devices on the LAN and the wider internet. A switch is a networking device that connects devices on a LAN by using packet switching to forward data to its destination. A switch creates a network by connecting devices and allowing them to communicate. It can also be used to expand the capacity of a network by connecting multiple devices to a single network. These two functions are often combined in a single device called a modem/router. This device acts as a modem, connecting the LAN to the WAN, and a router+switch, forwarding data packets between devices on the LAN. Modems/routers are typically used in homes and small businesses to provide internet access to multiple devices over wired and wireless connections. Modern modems/routers also include additional features such as firewall protection, VPN (virtual private network) support, and network storage, making them more versatile and functional for many needs.
