DOS (Disk Operating System)

An old operating system that Microsoft developed in the 1980s. Although no longer commonly used, it is still supported by some programs and applications. It is sometimes used for specific purposes, such as booting a computer from a disk, special bios updates, fixing, and recovering, or running legacy software.
